View Full Details of Home Instead (Hereford)My 92 year old father always wanted to stay at home as long as possible. Home Instead provided him with an excellent care package which allowed him to extend his stay at home by a further 18 months. We were provided with a service that adapted over this period to cater for dad's changing requirements. It was a real team service from the staff in the office to the carers who provided very kind care. I cannot recommend their services too highly and am very grateful for all the help and support we received.
I cannot thank you enough for the care that you have given to both my elderly parents. They looked forward to each visit. I'd also like to thank you for helping me too. You were always so helpful and cheerful. You always gave me excellent advice. Thank you.
Home Instead team have been wonderful, our brother's care has been a positive turning point for us and most importantly our brother. The support and kindness shown are 5 stars. Home Instead put our brother at the centre of his care plan, he is happy and loves the interaction with the care team. While we know his medication etc is done and he always has a reliable team caring for all his needs.
I'm beyond impressed with the support from Home Instead, the carer is fantastic, and flexible when I request changes to visits etc. I've even managed to go on holiday & support has been excellent in my absence. I can't praise the team highly enough.
When I needed some help at home after an emergency admission to hospital my family, all of whom live over 100 miles away, immediately contacted Home Instead who had provided such wonderful care during my wife’s final illness. As a retired hospital physician, I knew that my wife had presented complex care requirements in what proved to be her final illness. The staff of Home Instead rose magnificently to every new challenge and were always prepared to "go the extra mile", whether caring for my wife or supporting me at what was an exceptionally difficult time for both of us. Friendly but always respectful, they had clearly been well trained and took a pride in their work. The Care Quality Commission rated Home Instead Hereford as 'Good' in every category. As an experienced clinician who observed them at first hand over several months, I considered them 'Outstanding' in all categories. When I needed help I didn’t have to wait until the next day for hospital transport to get home because two carers arrived from Home Instead that morning to collect me. I don’t need much help now but what they provide is invaluable, e.g. changing bed linen, getting me a meal now and then, emergency shopping when I’ve forgotten something on the supermarket order, washing up or whatever needs doing, getting me out into the country on a fine day (my eyesight prevents me from driving), I could go on and on. Always friendly, always on time (or a warning call from Head Office if delayed more than 10 minutes), always professional, I can’t recommend them too highly.
My husband is severely disabled, with complex needs, and it's been difficult to find a care company who could give him the necessary standard of care. Home Instead are an absolute delight. The carers are extremely kind and friendly, highly competent and well-trained in all aspects of his care. The company are very approachable and supportive of both our needs.
For the last 12 months or so, my dad has been taken care of by a wonderful team from Home Instead. His needs were simple at first, - company, light housework. This progressed to daily personal care when some health issues flared up and the office was able to adapt his care package very quickly. The carers are exactly that, caring, which is so important for all concerned. My interaction with them has always been positive and friendly, they are helpful and entertaining for Dad. One phrase from our first 'assessment' has always stuck with me and when recommending to others it is the phrase that always convinces them. Having explained how hard it had been for me to do cleaning, shopping, and personal and emotional care on my own, a particular staff member said 'Leave that to us; we will do all that so you can go back to being his daughter' and that is what it has meant to me. My time with Dad is less stressful, we have laughs and good times and that is thanks in large part to the Home Instead team.
On my husband’s release from the hospital, with end-of-life care, we were allocated care from another agency, whose carers we grew to know. But I had already contacted Home Instead because our district nurses had said how good they were. The compromise was that Home Instead would provide companionship for my husband, so I could leave him to go to town for things which could only be done in person. These carers offer kindness, interest in his life and sharing of their own interests. They will never be idle - if he’s asleep they will sweep through, notice if there is ironing to be done. They are always punctual and I know that if any nursing need should arise then they are well-qualified to help him. Sometimes our usual carer can’t come, because she is on, for example, a dementia training day. So I feel even more secure. I am grateful for the professionalism of all at Home Instead and also for their advice and offers of help beyond the call of duty. We have had five extra months together, thanks.
Home Instead have been providing care to my mum for 3 years. The carers have been of an excellent standard and are prepared to turn their hand to anything that needs doing, not just personal care. They turn up on time and my mum has a small team of regular carers and is not bombarded with lots of different faces (as happens with some other care agencies). The carers respect my mum’s dignity but they all seem to have a good sense of humour, which my mum enjoys. The app which records case notes of each visit and the rota (of which carer is due to visit for the next week), is particularly useful and reassuring to me as I live a long way away from my mum. I have no hesitation in recommending Home Instead.
With my grandad passing away, and Nan having health problems herself we knew that external help would be needed not only to help keep on top of the household jobs but for emotional support for her also. We are so glad we chose Home Instead as the company for her. Not only are the care professionals understanding, supportive and caring but little things get done without even having to ask them. Nan looks forward to the days they come not only for household jobs but also to have a friendly face to chat with. All of us have seen such a change in her positivity and we are forever grateful for her care team providing that. She has the chance to get out of the house without worrying about one of us being there which is lovely for her. We couldn’t have chosen a better team for her, she thanks them very much for everything they do for her.
When I had to find a care agency it was a daunting task but I am so glad I found Home Instead. The carers were outstanding and their commitment and kindness shown to my mother and family in what was a very difficult time for us was outstanding. I particularly liked the fact that I had an app on my phone and they recorded every little detail so I was able to see how my mother was doing at any time. Thank you to all involved in my mother’s care.
I don’t usually leave reviews but felt I must share our experience. We (my mother and myself) felt nervous and apprehensive about seeking support to help us care for my lovely grandmother. It really was hugely daunting. First, a staff member, came out to assess my grandmother's care and support requirements, she was professional, caring and sensitive to my grandmother's personal and emotional needs, as well as understanding the dynamics and personalities of our family network, and so our journey began. ‘The team’ have been an absolute success; I can not speak highly enough of them. They are professional, caring with dignity always, sympathetic, interacting beautifully with both my mother and Grandmother (lots of laughter). They are an absolute pleasure to have in the home and have bought so much peace of mind for the family. A huge thank you to all the girls (ladies) for taking such care of my amazing grandmother and the lovely ladies in the office who are always so friendly and efficient.
There is an awful time between your parent's independence and the time to admit them into social care. During this time Home Instead (Hereford) were so supportive. Making the transition so much gentler for my mother. At first, it was tea and a chat, then making sure fluid intake and medication was correct. Then slowly and with respect helping with personal care her confusion. They helped us through the minefield of bureaucracy with the social care system. They have been supporting my mother for the last 3 years and we could not have got through it all without them. If anyone is looking for this care at whatever stage your loved one is, I would thoroughly recommend Home Instead (Hereford).
I contacted Home Instead after my dad fell, as he is the primary carer for my mum who has Dementia and was struggling. They called back the same day and had carers within days. This worked well, then sadly, Mum fell ill and was admitted to hospital. They kept in contact whilst Mum was in hospital and offered advice until she was home. Dad wants very much to care for Mum, but her dementia has progressed, so Home Instead ‘double up’ with Dad. This is very important for him. The carers are all great, as gentle, but persuasive with Mum, to ensure all care tasks are completed. No task is too much trouble. They assist Dad in the house with chores and chat to him. They have also helped us access resources to assist Mum’s comfort, as they have amazing knowledge. Home Instead have been fantastic from the moment I first contacted them. I do not know where we would be without them, but we certainly would not have Mum at home with Dad, which is our family's priority.
The carers and all the staff were very kind, caring, and thoughtful and went above and beyond, which made a big difference in his end-of-life care! My opinion is that you could not have done any better; you service was just excellent and a big heartfelt thank you to everybody involved!
Home Instead came to our rescue when both of my parents needed care, but they wanted to stay together in their own home. They both became ill very suddenly, and Home Instead stepped in with help, advice and support. Their knowledgeable owners were able to reassure me that all would be well and that mum and dad would be beautifully cared for. Support was arranged immediately, and everything was carefully put in place for my parents. All of their needs were respected and taken care of beautifully. The ladies looking after my parents are all wonderful, and are much loved by mum and dad! The team at the office are equally wonderful, and are easy to talk to, and welcoming! There is always someone with a friendly voice at the end of the phone in case we need them. Thank you, Home Instead for being there when we needed you and continuing to be there for all of us!
My heartfelt thanks to all at Hereford Home Instead. They have assisted my father, who has dementia, for the last 19 months. The support they have given to him and myself, living so far away, is impeccable. They have become very much part of our family. Staff are on call 24/7. If I have concerns, need to let off steam or just chinwag, someone will always pick up the phone and calm me - that's professionalism! Highly recommended as a home care service. Many thanks and love to you all.
I recommend Home Instead, Hereford and the excellent work they and their carers do every day. My mother would not be able to continue living in her home if it was not for the caregiver’s companionship and support with daily errands and appointments as well as trips out to have lunch or the garden centre. As I live out of the area knowing my mother is well cared for has been a weight off my shoulders as well as on the odd occasions when I have not been able to contact her, and they have been able to go and make a quick visit to check everything is as it should be. My mother tells me all the caregivers who have visited her are very good to talk to and treat her very well.
The carers who have attended me have been very good, their timekeeping is good and is reflective of what times I want or as close as possible. If the ideal time is not available to start with the manager and their team strive to meet the ideal time as soon as possible. The carers have a sense of humour and treat me as me not as another patient. All of the carers include my family in all decisions made about my care. They are little superstars and have allowed my family to be family.
After having a call stating that my grandmother (she's 95) had a fall at home, we had to make a decision to place her into emergency respite care whilst we tried to figure out a way for her to return home safely as this is where she wanted to be. A call to Home Instead and a discussion about her needs gave me assurance (a nurse) that they knew what was needed to enable her to remain in her home. Since Home Instead have been involved with her care, my grandmother has not only been able to remain at home safely, but they have also improved her nutritional intake and taking care of her personal, psychological and emotional needs. Home Instead continuously monitor her needs and the needs of us, her family, when we worry about her being at home. Home Instead have worked alongside us and what is best for her. The app allows us to read what has been going on during the day and how the carers are supporting her. My grandmother loves her carers and enjoys having "banter" with them.
