View Full Details of Home Instead (South Ayrshire and Kilmarnock)We have been receiving a service since august 2024 and we would not have managed to care for our elderly relative for as long without this support. Everyone has been very helpful and supportive and we are very grateful.
When I started having carers I was mentally and physically in a bad place, I found it really hard to have someone come in to visit me. I started to look forward to the visits by the end of the 2nd month. Now I really feel the benefits in my health. Everyone is really lovely. I don't think that I would be here without them.
The Home Instead team visit my mum every morning, she has a regular carer who does most of the visits with other carers helping out for holidays and weekends. They help her take medication, go shopping and hairdresser, pay papers and provide friendly company. They've suggested and set up visits to a local community club and often take Mum out for a coffee which she enjoys. The whole service has been superb, completely reliable, they've never missed or been late for a visit since we started 2 years ago. We appreciate how proactive and caring they are, mums carer contacts the doctor, pharmacy or optician if she spots a need and resolves problems with things like picking up medication. The central team are very helpful too, keeping in touch with me, being very flexible, and responding to requests to change or add extra time. Home Instead provide an amazing service for my mum, it's really made a difference for her and the family, we have a lot of reassurance knowing the team is on hand.
We were overseas visitors to the area and at short notice required daycare for my wife who is a stroke survivor, with partial paralysis and loss of speech. Home Instead were fabulous in their efforts to assist with our needs. In addition, they were extremely diligent in their onboarding process and their efficiency gave us great comfort. The carer was very personable and fully qualified, and my wife easily warmed to her. Although only a short stay this time, we have no hesitation in seeking Home Instead's services for our next visit or recommending them to others.
My Mum receives a weekly afternoon visit from the same carer each week, other than holidays. She does the housework, takes her to the hairdresser and takes her out. My Mum loves the visits and thinks the world of the carer. It has taken the pressure off of me trying to do everything for her, and I can now spend time visiting and talking to her rather than being her housekeeper. All the girls in the office are lovely and communication is excellent with them letting you know of any concerns and regularly contact you to get feedback on the service. A great service provider where nothing is too much trouble.
We have used Home Instead on two occasions now on an ad-hoc basis to provide support for my mother when we are away from home. The service provided is second to none. Great communication both from the office when booking dates and through the app per visit. I feel very happy that I can go away and know that my mum is in good hands. All the girls who have provided care have been professional and caring. Would not hesitate to recommend them.
Home Instead provide care, twice a day, for my 89-year-old father. We contacted them when my father was due to be discharged from hospital and they had carers in place at very short notice. Each carer turns up on time and always leaves a report of their visit on the app, allowing my family and I to get an update on what's happening, at any time of day. They have been very helpful in arranging extra care when we are going away on holiday, or allowing us to cancel sessions a couple of weeks in advance if my father is coming with us. It is great that a carer is happy to take my dad shopping or to go to the shops on his behalf, depending on how he is feeling. Home Instead contact me immediately, if the carer attending that day is concerned about anything. Dad is very happy with the service and enjoys a chat with the various staff who attend. We are pleased that companionship is high on their agenda.
I cannot recommend the Home Instead team highly enough. All the carers are extremely professional and compassionate delivering person-centered care. Mum really enjoys their company and interactions. They give me a well-needed break secure in the knowledge that Mum is happy and safe. I have recently used the live-in care team as well. I was anxious about doing this for the first time but as always the team provided an excellent carer who I got to meet prior to me taking a short break. This has made a huge difference to me knowing that Mum can get respite care in the comfort of my home. Sincere thanks to them all.
My partner has Home Instead to support my partner on a Tuesday and Friday while I get some time myself. He does lots of quizzes and talks a lot about different things, and his two support workers are very good with him. I have used the live-in support workers as well. I am just back from holiday and he was supported very well by the two people who supported him, they are all very good at Home Instead, if you have a problem you just need to phone and they get it sorted.
My Mum and Dad currently receive Live in Care. This was set up after a very successful block of Respite Care following a long period in hospital for my Dad. This has been highly successful and has allowed my Mum and Dad to stay in their own home where they are extremely happy but would otherwise not be able to remain by themselves. The success of the live-in care has been down to the careful selection of high-quality carers for my parents. Both parents were interviewed and carers found that had similar interests and experiences. They have formed very happy and positive relationships with both carers as have I as their daughter. The communication with myself is outstanding and it has changed a previously very stressful situation into one where I can now enjoy a visit as their daughter rather than a carer. The care received by my Mum and Dad has been outstanding and I am extremely grateful for the wonderful service provided.
Care carried out as per care plan. Good rapport between Mum and care assistants. Good communication between carers, care supervisors and family. Approachable staff, flexible and holistic culture. Thanks.
My uncle enjoys the support of the care team in the area. My uncle has twice daily visits to help him maintain his independence in his home. They do a fantastic job. I cannot compliment the team highly enough.
All carers turn up at the allotted time. They are pleasant and friendly and put mum at ease. She is up showered, dressed and has breakfast. They always offer to do anything else within the time left - load or empty the washing machine, hang up washing or take something out of the freezer for her later meal.
I contacted Home Instead to get some support for mum at home. They were very friendly, helpful and informative regarding all my inquiries and quickly arranged a home visit to talk through all they could offer. We engaged the service to help with mum’s medication and to check on safety and well-being of the house as well as offer companionship. The service was set up pretty quickly and the workers who came out were great. They had a good picture of what was required and mum liked them immediately. I was able to see and contribute to the care plan and also see the visit reports using an app and it was easy to set up and use. I wouldn’t hesitate to use further support services from Home Instead and found everyone really helpful, friendly and especially caring. Five stars.
First-class care for my 90-year-old mum by one carer in particular who has been exceptional with her. She has taken time to get to know my mum really well and has put her at her ease, and she now really enjoys her company. The initial process and setup from Home Instead by the care pro experience lead was easy and didn’t stress my mum. Can’t recommend them enough.
The people who come are great with my wife and they allow me to get stretched out in bed twice a week after a couple years trying to sleep curled up on the couch. My wife sleeps in the living room, in a hospital bed.
My sister and I arranged for our mum, who is now in her nineties, to have regular carer visits from Home Instead staff members back in September 2023, and they have been supporting Mum since then. We have found communication with the office excellent, with staff responding promptly to any changes needed. The carers are professional and friendly, and although Mum found the change to daily visits difficult, the staff have been sensitive to her issues. They provide a wide range of support depending on the daily needs of our mother, and we feel well-supported in a way that allows her to remain in her home. The service is highly recommended.
I watched over my neighbour, who I could see was declining both in mobility and her ability to look after herself properly. With no family to support her here, and not wishing to go into care, Home instead was asked to start a twice-a-day service. My neighbour really enjoyed the company, chat and support. I could check the app which was updated daily to see how she was doing. As my neighbour's health declined further, I asked Home Instead to support us even more by using the service three times a day and then eventually four until such time as my neighbour was required to go into hospital after a fall. I can only say that the service my neighbour and I received was the best available. Communication was always excellent, supportive and helpful. Going way beyond what I would have expected. The service is professional, well-organised and just lovely to use. The biggest thank you to each and every one of you involved. You were my lifesavers and I wish you every continued success for the future.
Home Instead have looked after my 92-year-old mother at home twice a day for over a year now and they have been nothing short of a godsend. Without them we would not have been able to keep her at home for so long. The girls were relaxed and friendly and weren't put off by her extreme hoarding. On the contrary they sat with her and chatted and allowed her to tell them all about the things she's done and places she's been. They also gained enough trust for her to let them do some basic cleaning tasks and even, occasionally, throw some used biscuit wrappers in the bin! The entries in the app at each visit allowed us, her daughters, to feel reassured and to have something to ask her about when we phoned/video called later. I would thoroughly recommend.
My wife and I have been really pleased with the care and service provided by our carer from Home Instead. She has taken the time to get to know my wife really well and she really enjoys our carers company and commented on how caring she has been when helping with meals and toilet duties. I am comfortable when I’m out that our carer is more than capable of taking care of my wife's needs. Thank you, Home Instead!
