View Full Details of Helping Hands Home Care (Huddersfield)Helping hands haven been very important for mum these past weeks and I want to thank them for all their kindness help and support For reasons I won't explain I'm sorry to see them finish and want to wish all the staff involved a very happy and bright future Thank you everyone.
Helping Hands have been supporting my Mum for over a year now, and the care from the team has been wonderful throughout. Mum has Alzheimer's and vascular dementia and needs help with day to day tasks. When Mum and I first met with Care Coordinator, we were asked about interests and hobbies as well as the practical support needed. Mum has regular carers, which is very helpful as it takes her a while to remember people now, and she has been matched with a brilliant team, who understand her and have got to know what works in her care, activities she enjoys - such as gardening, being outdoors and music - and she has regular outings and adventures during the day. The team also make sure Mum and her cat have good food, that the house is kept clean and safe and have taken her to appointments when needed. I highly recommend Helping Hands, and we would be lost without the team. Thank you for looking after my lovely Mum so well.
Helping Hands provided a really helpful service for my mother. As her mobility worsened, they provided increasing care. When my mother fell, I was informed by a neighbour. Since I lived away, I could not get to my mother for a few hours. I rang Helping Hands, who sent a carer straight away to stay with her until I was able to get there and the ambulance arrived. This was a great relief. I would definitely recommend Helping Hands.
I needed home care after suffering a slipped disc during a 9 week wait for surgery and for a few weeks post-op. The assessment of needs was professional, warm and reassuring. A dear contact helped define what we agreed would be given and flexibility was also possible. The carers who visited were completely reliable, cheerful positive and carried out anything we agreed and more. I would recommend this service without reservation.
Very good support from manager and staff at Helping Hands Home Care (Huddersfield). Routine hospital support visits are very good and reliable although some carers when new, are not informed by the head office/previous carers of the route or correct entrance to use which has sometimes resulted in arriving late for treatments. Regular home visits vary depending on carer. Some are excellent and take initiative to do odd jobs, make drinks and visit shops etc. Others just sit there and wait for my elderly mother to make them a drink and generally entertain them, basically adding no value, other than a bit of company during the two-hour visit.
The service provided by Helping Hands was fine - attendance, time-keeping, duties performed etc - were all performed to a good standard and reflected the background and training given to the staff. However, the client (my mother) was upset and annoyed by the fact that although every attempt was made by Helping Hands to provide continuity of staff personnel, she couldn't cope with different staff arriving each week.
Helping Hands cared for my father during his convalescence after breaking his leg. The care was very friendly and always on time. The carers went above and beyond to make sure his surroundings were clean and safe at all times and that he was talked to like a person, not a client. Couldn't recommend a better company. We have used other companies before who did the bare minimum, which Helping Hands certainly doesn't; they are happy to help in any way. Thanks again for caring for my dad.
