View Full Details of Nationwide Care Services Ltd (Dudley & Wolverhampton)I’ve used this care company for a good few months with problem after problem. The care manager is a waste of time. I’ve called meetings in which she attended my mom's property and promised the earth. Said she would speak to care staff regarding my mom's needs and still having problems with personal care, down to emptying of commodes, and leaving mom in a safe environment. None of these things got sorted, so today I tried to contact the managing director, still no call back by 3 o'clock today, but a call from social services saying the company have handed the package back. Please think twice on using this company they are a disgrace.
I feel that one care worker has a huge ego, expects me to help her and snap to her demands immediately - I want this, where's this, where's this, where's this - I am disabled myself (as well as caring for my mother) I can't snap to it. She was trying to tell me to do something different from what a doctor advised. Not only did this carer not know the difference between constipation and diarrhoea and thought anti-diarrhoea medication was to make you poo more but her managers were also of the same opinion. When it gets to this level of stupidity and ignorance I lose faith in the whole organisation.
This care company has very poor staff retention. The new staff that are recruited have only basic English. As my wife suffers from vascular dementia, continuity, communication and inter-reaction are very important. The company started off well but the constant change of staff, the language and the inability to interact are now causing issues with my wife's mental state. She can no longer cope with the constant change of carers and has become very agitated and fearful.
We had used two other care agencies prior to using our current carers and neither of those were so reliable and efficient as our current carers. We are very pleased with the service supplied and could strongly recommend them to friends or relations.
The carers give me company, reassurance and support. They support me to keep my independence by making sure I eat and drink and make sure I take my treatment. They tidy up when I am too weak to manage. They help me to recover from illness and have reduced my risk of falling.
Mostly I have no reason to complain. The staff have been polite and helpful. Sometimes I have difficulty understanding them, mainly due to my deafness and sometimes with the accents which I am now beginning to get more used to.
Very pleased with the care and support from our main carer. We have a few issues with times which are not good when our main carer has a day off. The office doesn't phone us to say they will be late.
