My usual carer is excellent in every way, I have had others on occasion and all are satisfactory, some more friendly, some more competent all willing. Any problems I have had with staff have been my fault, not giving enough notice or forgetting dates given etc. They are always friendly and willing to help.
We have used Age UK for several years now. We like the fact that staff are checked out and are regularly trained and updated on courses. We also like the fact that Age UK offer to support in filling out forms and offer courses to assist family members. The personal support is good but disappeared during covid leaving my family members isolated without support for shopping needs. Our current personal assistant is excellent and provides much needed support to the family.
After an Age UK assessment, my husband and I have been supported by an Age UK support worker. This support has meant that I am able to leave my husband for a few hours per week to meet friendly and socialised and my husband (who is disabled) is supported at home and encouraged to help around the house or play dominoes etc. This support has been invaluable to both of us.
The support worker has been kind, friendly and a great source of help to the family. She assists Mum so she can enjoy doing everyday things such as supermarket shopping and going out for coffee and cake. The support worker is always on time and communicated well regarding care making sure Mum is happy and settled before leaving. Mum enjoys and looks forward to visits every week, they do different activities depending on what needs doing.
Excellent service from our regular carer, for both my husband and myself (now in a care home) who needed personal care and myself for homework and shopping. No complaints at all.
All the carers who come in to help me look after mother, who has advanced Alzheimer's, are very kind and very professional. They do all personal care, including helping me wash her hair and importantly monitor her skin by putting creams on if necessary. They keep accurate records of this. Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland also provides a sitting service so I can get out of the house. I know I can trust them to take good care of my mother, taking her to the toilet, ensuring she drinks fluids and generally engaging with her. I couldn't manage without them.
My carer is very kind and helpful in many ways.
Always delighted with the standard of work done when our helper leaves our home. She will always do that extra bit if and when needed. Weekly help.
The fact that I have the same provider and carer for the past 10 years speaks volumes. The care, friendship and support have been first class, long may it continue but I am nearly 90!! but still in control. Many thanks to all concerned.
I am very pleased to be going out for 2 hours. I enjoy my trips to the garden centre.
We, my husband and myself are entirely satisfied with our homecare cleaning visit which lasts two hours fortnightly. The whole house is clean, fresh and homely after the session and we are much better able to keep up a maintenance routine between visits.
We have found Age UK apart for some teething problems good at suiting our needs. The staff are obliging and do their best to help us. Carers who we have and have had are very pleasant and caring. With thought given to my husband's dignity in his personal care. From their example, we are using Age UK for all we need to help us in other ways.
All the carers that came to visit Mum took the time to get to know what she liked, talking about and doing. They had a great relationship with her and she enjoyed their company. Thank you for all your support.
I have had two women coming in to shower my husband in, at first - 2 mornings now 4 mornings, plus other women who have filled in when one of the regular women have not been available. I have been very pleased with their help and understanding. I have not ticked "Excellent" below as I have no idea how excellent is measured.
The Age UK lady is lovely. She is caring and professional and has developed a good relationship with both my mum and dad. Dad has early dementia and mum struggles to cope with him sometimes. The Age UK lady helps mum with household chores but, more importantly, she gives mum a break from dad for a couple of hours. Great service.
My usual carer continues to be able to facilitate my care needs.
Home care personnel most helpful for tasks I find difficult or impossible. During last year experienced problems in providing me with help when regular home Helper not coming.
Excellent reliable care. The policy to provide the same carer each week means a relationship of friendship and trust can be built. Carers give above and beyond and they do care.
My experience to date has been consistent in relation to the standard of cleaning not forgetting. Apart from holidays and sickness have the same care worker each week. We have built up a friendly and professional relationship which shows trust and respect.
