View Full Details of Calderdale Home Care HalifaxI need to give credit where it is due because this is the third care company we tried for my brother who suffered with complex mental health problems alongside other disabilities and thankfully it was third time lucky because, as a family, we nearly lost all hope. We had used Calderdale Home Care for over twelve months and I only ever had to make one complaint that was quickly resolved! My brother, who has sadly now passed away, got on well with all carers but exceptionally well with the carers he regularly got and, after eighteen months of him not admitting he needed help with his personal hygiene, there is one young lad in particular that visited that was incredibly able to build that much of a trusting bond with my brother that in the last twelve months of his life, he had a shower twice a week and would let him help with dressing him every day. Thank you all so much.
A really bad experience with Calderdale Home Care, never received a carers visit rota. On most occasions, the carers arrived later than the times agreed to when this company started with my mum’s care. I was informed not to chase a late visit until the carers were thirty minutes late, there were no courtesy calls when the carers were running late, I had to keep ringing up to chase the late visits. My mum has physio and the company was aware that my mum required the commode after the physio visit, not before. On two occasions, the carers arrived early when my mum was having physio and were not prepared to wait to put my mum on the commode and the office let the carers leave, with the next carers visit hours later. I had to chase this company regarding late carers visits. I was informed I complained too much. The manager was not very pleasant on the phone on a few occasions. A few of the carers did the opposite to what I requested, which was not pleasant. Now with a wonderful new care company. My mum's community social worker was agreeable to myself contacting homecare providers in my area to avoid any delays with the local Council finding a homecare match, and the social worker finalised with the Council's brokerage department to facilitate the move to my mum's excellent new homecare provider.
