View Full Details of Home Instead (Wandsworth, Lambeth & Dulwich)Since starting to use Home Instead a year ago I have been really impressed with the excellent service they offer. The carers are supportive, patient, and most importantly very kind. They really do care about the work, and it can be very demanding. The office staff are all very helpful, efficient, and easily contacted - very good lines of communication. My 90 year old Mother's quality of life has been hugely improved from such a dreadful, chaotic time - in and out of hospital after falling over, to a calm, caring and well organised life at home.
Home Instead has provided care over many months for my husband who has advanced Alzheimer's. They were flexible in dealing with necessary changes and excellent in their care and understanding of the challenges of dementia. I couldn't have managed without their friendly support.
Home Instead have provided an amazing service at a very difficult time and have exceeded expectations at all times. I am caring for my 94 year old Mother in her home and their assistance has made this possible. Every aspect of the service has been fantastic, both the office team and the carers, communications are clear and considerate and the carers are supportive, understanding and give my mother love and respect. The whole experience has been a revelation, that there are gentle caring people available to us to help in this journey. I cannot recommend Home Instead highly enough.
All our carers have been extremely good, efficient, professional, kind and caring.
We're very pleased with Home Instead in Wandsworth and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. The carers are lovely and the office staff very efficient. With their help, we're able to keep our elderly mother living an almost independent life at home.
Good. My carer is companionable, carries out tasks to the best of his considerable ability and we have found shared interests. It's always good to see him.
I have used Home Instead service since January 2023. Had the same carer since then, although now reduced hours. Very happy with all the care - physically and emotionally that I received - professional, friendly, respectful and responsive. The service has been flexible when required (hospital inpatient etc.) and easy to organise.
The regular carer that I have is delightful, cheerful and always willing to put my well-being first. As a retired teacher, she has a rather special gift which is empathy. I find this very motivating and unselfish. The office is helpful and efficient too.
The personal carers who come for an hour each morning are all really excellent, kind, and thorough in their work. This means that I start the day feeling very positive and loved. The reason for the less than 5 stars overall is that communication between administrators is sometimes less than perfect. Yesterday the carer was sent to our house even though we had cancelled some 12 days before and had had verbal confirmation of this. Mix-ups like this happen more frequently than they should. Overall I would not hesitate in recommending Home Instead to anyone who needs personal care.
I had a mobility problem when I had a leg muscular spasm for over 3 months. I was sent a carer by the local council through the 'Hospital at Home' team. After two weeks the council asked me to look for a permanent carer (which I can fund myself). My son then went online to look for one. He spent time looking at reports of other users before contacting the manager from Home Instead. She came to see me and after the interview, she matched me with a carer. I can only say that I am very lucky with the carer matched to me. She is considerate, efficient, and cheerful while providing everything from personal care (which includes bathing and dressing) to dealing with a variety of small household tasks (e.g. loading the washing machine, tidying the kitchen and doing some small shopping). I now welcome and enjoy the company of my carer twice a week for continuous care. I want to thank everyone at Home Instead, Senior Care, (Wandsworth).
I want to thank everyone at Home Instead Southfields for all your help and support in looking after my uncle. I have worked with several care agencies, in Sussex and in London and I think Home Instead is exceptional. You care about your clients and that is evident in everything you do, from your recruitment process, finding the right carer for the client, the positive can-do attitude and kindness of the carers even in the most difficult circumstances and in the helpful advice and support provided by the office team.
We engaged Home Instead for my fiercely independent mother when she was in her early 90's. I was going away and wanted help to ensure that she was taking her asthma medication. By the time I came back from holiday the carer (the same carer for each visit) was helping Mum shower and dress, loading the washing machine, doing some shopping, and tidying the kitchen. Mum enjoyed her company. They started going out for coffee and cake. As mum became frailer we gradually extended the hours until she had a team of carers coming in 3 times a day 7 days a week. The team was constant and they were all so kind and caring. Mum had dementia which progressed rapidly. She needed more support so 5 months ago we asked Home Instead to provide 24-hour "live-in" care. Two lovely carers rotated so they got to understand Mum and her needs. They did everything for her, including personal care, with care and compassion. The communication from the Home Instead team with me was always excellent.
My mum in her late 90’s started to have Home Instead, Wandsworth branch, to come into her home to give her a shower, help her dress, give her breakfast, make her bed, tidy the kitchen, and settle her down with a coffee and the morning newspaper until we could take over. This carried on for years. She had the same team of lovely girls, who were very caring, kind and patient. She used to say “they are like part of my family”. When mum reached 100, we felt we could not leave her on her own if we were away. The same team of girls would come in and look after her and give her 24-hour care, which meant they would live with her, give her meals, sleep in her house and be a companion. They did light housework and the laundry. This carried on for a couple of years. When mum reached 102, she needed more support and once again we asked Home Instead for help. Over the last few months, mum has had 24-hr “live-care”. Home Instead are wonderful, catering for all her needs, with compassion.
I have been extremely happy with Home Instead service which has been efficient, compassionate, professional and reassuring. The team worked really positively and reactively during a difficult time, with strong communication and faultless support. From the back office to the 'on the ground' team, it's been really great to be able to work with everyone there, even during the most challenging bits, when the sympathy and candour of the team was outstanding, really kept me going!
We had a very good experience with Home Instead in Wandsworth. The team looked after my father when he came out of the hospital for what turned out to be the last week or so of his life. One lady was a superbly reassuring presence as we were trying to organise what care we needed, and she was very successful not just in meeting the practical needs that they had but in finding carers who would get along with Dad and who would give Mum the reassurance that she needed. Both he and my mum were just delighted with the support they received from such kind people. We felt in really good hands, which is so valuable in a time of great stress and sadness. Several of the carers went out of their way to send cards and messages after Dad died, which Mum found really touching. Overall, you did a great job for us.
My mother had home care services from Home Instead that graduated from one visit a day increasing over time to 24-hour end-of-life care at home. The Care Managers were helpful in planning appropriate graduated care as well as explaining and connecting with other services like district nursing and equipment loan services, never overselling their service. The carers that worked with Mum were exceptional and caring, knowing exactly what she wanted, and allowed her to maintain her dignity. Receiving good care when you are elderly, frail, and vulnerable is so important but difficult to find. The Home Instead app allowed me to see each visit documented. Knowing that she was so well taken care of was such a relief as both my brother and I lived many hours away. I will always be grateful for the special attention that my mother received that allowed her to pass away peacefully at home. It is the sort of service every elderly person should receive but many sadly don't.
My daughter's live-in carer was exceptional. She was caring, gentle and very kind and supportive of her. She was fun too when needed. She went the extra mile for example staying up with Fran after her finish time in the evening., She was hardworking and our kitchen had the benefit of her help in sorting out some cupboards and drawers. Well done! Also thank you so much to another member of staff, without you both we would not have been able to attend our son's wedding celebration.
I was quite apprehensive of a complete stranger staying for seven days when my wife took a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity at Oberammergau. The passion play already had been delayed by two years. One wanted a carer to come in for a week to keep an eye on and supervise me during that time. I just wanted someone to keep an eye on me and be available if I fell over or wanted some extra assistance for seven days. I was looked after 24 hours a day, meals provided when I wanted them, did the washing or went out to the shops for provisions. We had some enjoyable conversations about most aspects of life, and I was introduced to some Jamaican food, which I found delicious. I was always asked if I wished to try something new.
A carer from Home Instead looked after my dad, who had Parkinson's, for two years. When he died, this same carer continued to look after my mum with great kindness and dedication. As my mum's needs have become greater, the number of carers has increased, so that she has help three times a day. All the carers, without exception, have been considerate, thoughtful, cheerful and efficient, providing everything from personal care to general companionship, and dealing with a variety of household tasks. They are quick to notice any signs of ill health and have helped the family with GP and hospital visits. The staff at the office are always on hand to answer queries - and have also given the family moral support when times are tough. The core of the service is genuine kindness and compassion, and a determination to provide the best care possible. We're not sure how we'd manage without this great team of people.
We were very pleased with the care provided by all the carers. They were punctual, never rushed and very considerate. Always had time for a chat and were very supportive to family and friends. I would not hesitate to recommend your company.
