View Full Details of Home Instead (Westminster & City of London)I have been very impressed and thankful for the care that Home Instead have shown in looking after the resident, who suffers with dementia, over the last eighteen months. Her particular wishes have been respected throughout and the carers have been kind and considerate. It has not been an easy situation and Home Instead's management have done its utmost to find the right carers to cope with the situation. I have found the daily log particularly helpful.
My mother has a carer visit from Home Instead every day to help her with tasks at home, keeping appointments, meeting friends and general companionship. All the carers are helpful, kind and conscientious and the managers are also always helpful and reply to emails and concerns quickly. My mother has a very good relationship with all her carers and we, her children, have peace of mind that she is getting the care and support she needs. Highly recommended.
I used Home Instead to look after my father, who was visiting from the US and who uses carers when he's home. The 2 people who came were both extremely kind and conscientious and my father had nothing but good things to say about both. Rates were fair (far lower than in the US) and the company was very easy to deal with. Highly recommended.
I had to have a live-in carer for my first week out of hospital, after a spinal operation, as I live alone. Home Instead arranged everything beautifully and at very short notice. I knew the company because they provided care for my mother before she died. I am usually very fit and independent, but after the spinal operation, there were many activities I was unable to do, for a few weeks. My carer was incredibly kind and efficient and looked after me beautifully without being an unwelcome presence in my home. I highly recommend this professional considerate company and their staff.
I broke my right arm just below the shoulder at the end of February and had to have shoulder surgery which took place on 23rd March. Home Instead sent us a delightful carer who initially came to us three days a week, helping me to shower, wash my hair, and do all the things I could not do for myself. She took on the laundry, some food preparation, shopping etc. as well as helping me with my exercises, when I commenced physiotherapy after the operation. My husband and I both felt she was a real friend as well as being a tremendous support. Gradually, as my condition improved we arranged for her visits to go down from three days a week to two and finally to one day a week in August, which was her last month with us. We cannot praise her and Home Instead more highly.
I broke my dominant arm and was unable to wash or dress myself. At very short notice Home Instead provided lovely carers in the mornings and evenings for several weeks with less frequent visits as I became stronger. I was told "treat us as your friends or family" and they really were: they did everything from showering and dressing me to preparing meals, helping me shop, watering my window boxes and even addressing envelopes. Not only were my helpers good carers they were also enjoyable company. Thank you!
I had just had hip surgery. My husband had a bad back so was unable to help around our home and we were in the middle of "lockdown". It was wonderful to have two visits each week from cheerful happy people. On one visit I had help to show, was my hair and put away the weekly shop. On the second visit, a delicious meal was cooked served and cleaned away. Indeed frequently a large pot of vegetable soup was also cooked, some of which was frozen for us to use later in the week. It was lovely having visits from friendly, helpful people.
We are so pleased that our aunt is being so kindly cared for. The main thing is she likes all the caregivers. Each one bringing their own gift of kindness. Not just the physical care, but reading and singing with her. And listening to the stories of a long lived life. I see respect for her, as a mature woman, and also the warmth and care like one might give a child. That she needs and enjoys at this time in her life.
Home Instead came recommended by a social worker looking after a terrible situation with my mother's dementia and physical decline. The care and attention shown to my mother and the communication and advice offered to me have seen a complete reversal in my mother's situation. With daily 3 hours visits and nutritional support, I have seen my mother return to a happier and more relaxed state of mind. Being able to interact with Home Instead from overseas has given me the peace of mind I craved for.
I have been with Home Instead since spring 2021 and am well satisfied with the service even though it is much more than I would like. I have experienced them as both efficient and humane also their care to selecting a carer most likely to fit my needs.
On my discharge from hospital, I needed help at weekends and for a couple of evenings a week to supplement arrangements we already had in place. Home Instead was recommended by my son-in-law, as they are currently supporting his widowed mother. The carers who came - one per visit - arrived on time, and met my needs - at first having to wash and dress me, but as I got stronger they encouraged me to do more. They were extremely patient and responsive to my wishes. Each prepared breakfast for me and shopped or ironed when these duties were completed. All took an intelligent interest in my welfare and family circumstances, and I felt at ease with them. By the end of January, I hope to be self-sufficient so my wife and I will manage unaided.
Home Instead provided relief carers to provide afternoon care cover four days a week whilst the live-in carer took a break. The 95-year-old client had suffered a stroke in 2019 which left her with aphasia, unable to speak, read or write but mentally clear. The client was able to walk and enjoyed short exercise walks along the corridor outside her flat accompanied by the carers and outings in the gardens in her wheelchair. At times the client could become frustrated and upset with her aphasia. The Home Instead carers were remarkable in their patience and understanding of how to make the client's life more enjoyable. As well as traditional caring tasks they would read to her, watch natural history programmes with her and were very kind. They worked well with the live-in carers and made life very much easier than it might otherwise have been. Very highly recommended.
Home Instead was recommended to us, when we were looking for gentle support for an elderly friend with mild memory loss. Our friend had no close family but it was a complex situation. Home Instead took the trouble to understand the situation. They also made sure that the carers selected would understand and be interested in our friend's life and interests. In time, he has become close to more than one of them. It is reassuring for us to know he is looked after by not only professional and competent carers but sympathetic and sensitive human beings. As our friend's physical and mental frailties have got greater, we are confident the care will match his needs. In addition, we have found the management team to be at pains to take time to understand our concerns and to consult us when needed about changes. All-round an impressive level of professionalism.
The Home Instead team continue to provide excellent care for my sister and are very responsive and understanding about her changing needs. They have provided me with sensible advice and really helped in my planning for her future. The carers have been consistently brilliant in how they look after her and ensure appropriate stimulus and warmth in how they interact. I would highly recommend Home Instead to others with a relative requiring care.
My mother is elderly, lives alone and has been fiercely independent all her life. So for her to develop dementia and memory loss has meant a major change, especially as she has always been physically well. Her care needs have slowly increased over the last 12 months and with Covid, it has been a particularly difficult time. I have found the care and kindness provided by all the carers from Home Instead to be exemplary. As I live on the other side of the world I am far removed from what is happening in the UK and so the reassurance of knowing that my mother is so well looked after has been a great relief. The Director and the Care Manager and their team of carers have been wonderful and very open to discussion with the family about what is needed and when. I have no hesitation in recommending Home Instead.
Home Instead have provided thoughtful and excellent care for my 'tricky' mother for the past 9-months. The carers are professional, imaginative in their approach to providing a stimulating environment, and above all, extremely diligent about providing the best possible care in her home. Each and every one of them deserves a medal for the patience, kindness and attention to detail they display in attending to her daily needs. I would recommend them to anyone who wishes to provide gold standard care for someone wishing to remain in their own home.
Home Instead has provided excellent care for my mother and stepfather over the last few years. Each carer has been kind, gentle, and absolutely appropriate for my mother, who has Alzheimer's. They have regularly encouraged her to do her exercises, have a bath, and go for a little walk while being cheerily persuasive if she's been reluctant or confused. My stepfather had been suffering from loneliness and depression as my mother's condition worsened, and every Home Instead carer seemed to understand how to encourage him and chat with him to lift his spirits. When my stepfather became suddenly incredibly ill and died within a few weeks in hospital, each carer visited him, and my mother, on their time off. The agency team at the office have been supportive and reactive, offering creative ideas for a very painful and difficult situation these past few weeks. A heartfelt thank you to you all.
Excellent professional organisation. Management caring and understanding the needs of prospective clients. Initial visits to introduce carers, who in turn attended to my every need. Completely reliable, and despite our age gap (I am 87) they treated me as a friend of their own age. I live in a retirement block and see many carers from other companies. Home Instead is superior, in fact, the Rolls Royce of Home Care. I needed care after replacement hip surgery following a fall.
I called Home Instead asking to leave a review as I am so very impressed with their services: The interview process, the tactful and knowledgeable approach to get to know my mother, the knowledge of my mother's condition (Alzheimer), the warmth of everybody involved, the circumspection and care towards all details concerning my mother, the kindness of the carers, in short: the human touch which is so often advertised but so rarely demonstrated. In addition to the excellent matching of the carers to my mother's personality and interests (she is lively and joyful again after each visit), I greatly appreciate (no names, you know whom I mean) the very considerate and knowledgeable pair of eyes and real concern of my mother's well - being and safety, pointing out issues to me that I am unaware of and acting upon them (I live far away). And I like to add that Social Services who met the staff with my mother were very favourably impressed too! A big THANK YOU to all of you involved.
Home Instead have been fantastic. Always at the end of the phone and really helpful in sorting my mother’s care.
