View Full Details of Helping Hands Home Care (Milton Keynes)Excellent care throughout. Almost without exception carers are considerate, caring, resourceful, and efficient. Whilst they will readily undertake the tasks prescribed in the plan, they also go to lengths to identify if any other tasks require doing. Time keeping is for the most part very good. Another excellent aspect to the service is how the carers make a concerted effort to get to know the clients which makes the visit an enjoyable experience. If there is one area of concern it is that periodically messages to the 24 hour service to cancel a call following hospitalisation have not been passed to the carer, resulting in the carer arriving at the empty property next morning and setting off the security alarm. However, all administration issues are dealt with professionally and promptly the office.
Helping hands have been supporting our parents to live at home for a few years now. They have been amazing. Staff on the phone are always friendly, understanding and aim to meet dad's changing needs. We use other care agencies provided by the council, but dad has insisted that he keeps Helping Hands carers too as he has a special bond and the carers take time to talk to dad and gently encourage him with all his daily challenges. Thank you especially to those regular carers who have been amazing with dad. You have made such a difference to us all.
I think the biggest test is how you remember the carers and the service provided after your loved one has left this earth... being a carer is hard but with the support of Helping Hands and the staff it was made so much easier. From personal care to helping taking my loved one out for day trips, to the emotional support which the staff gave to me, was totally invaluable. Simply it all made my life a bit easier. As a carer there are times you doubt yourself, but with the kindness shown by the staff at Helping Hands, I had someone to reassure me that I was doing the best. My loved one knew she was in good hands and was so grateful for the literal “helping hands” she received. I felt comfortable knowing that the kind staff were in my home when I wasn’t there. I was appreciative of the support of the competent staff when emergencies occurred and was comforted by the staff as they shared their own grief with me when my loved one died. Would I recommend? Absolutely! Fab company, fab staff!
I cannot rate helping hands high enough. Mum has dementia and the carers visited daily to prepare her a meal, make her a cup of tea and just have a general chit chat. They treated Mum with dignity and respect and Mum actually looked forward to seeing them. My direct contact with the management team always went smoothly as we had to rearrange visits and times. They also gave Mum her medication and were always on hand to give any advice and help they could offer. It was an absolute pleasure dealing with them at what could have been a very stressful time.
We were looking for help when my 83 year old Dad was discharged from hospital following a couple of falls due to low blood pressure and heart failure. Helping Hands were able to send a manager out within 48 hours of my contact and they started home visits the following week. Since we started with Helping Hands 6 months ago, we have been able to reduce from 3 visits a day to two as Dad is gaining some independence. The help he receives for breakfast and lunch each day means that we know he is eating regularly and takes his medication. Dad enjoys the chats with his regular carers and it means he sees somebody to talk to every day. The carers will pop to the supermarket as well as do laundry and housework which is an immeasurable help. I live an hour away and my brother lives abroad so we are happy that we know Dad is being looked after so well in his own home. I would recommend Helping Hands to anyone who is looking for support in their own home.
My mother in her late 80s is increasingly frail and vulnerable, but above all wants to stay in her own home. Helping Hands has impressed us every step of the way. From the beginning, the match with a regular carer has worked out well. The service provided has been reliable, caring, professional and friendly. My mum has been given some independence back within the household and more recently personal grooming chores. She looks forward to the visits for appropriate help and a gossip. From the family's point of view, we are happier that mum has a Helping Hands visitor to make her feel less lonely and cared for. The communication has been good and we feel less guilty about not being able to be there. There is a portal to view what's happened on visits and we get a phone call if there is something major to report.
It's a great help to me to have so many carers who deal with my husband, and he is much better with them as he can be quite difficult with me - but loving.
I'm very grateful to Helping Hands for the care and service they provide to my father. Getting the support in place was a lot easier than I expected, particularly, and one lady was so kind when we met her and spoke to my father with such dignity that we both felt confident about the decision to o ahead. The service has been transformational for my father, making it possible for him to remain at home. The carers are reliable and kind and know when something needs additional interaction, e.g. district nurses or communicating back to me, giving me peace of mind. Our caregiver has been particularly wonderful, and my dad is particularly grateful to her.
I would really highly recommend this company to my friends and family. They are very helpful kind understanding and just all around a great team of people. I have been with this company for a while now and it nice to have consistency and a good laugh.
We appreciate the rota in advance. The carers are normally on time, and if delayed, we tend to be informed. The best thing is continuity of care, and we all appreciate the key carer that tends to have most mornings. She is cheerful, conscientious, patient and excellent with my dad. He always looks so well cared for post-morning care. The carers have also been supportive of my elderly mum.
Helping Hands has been providing excellent support for my 94 year old mother over the past year that has enabled her to stay in her own home until very recently. The carers were very helpful and flexible in their support to meet her increasing needs over that time. The organisation were also able to respond to calls for additional help or service suspensions linked to her repeated hospitalizations. Overall we were delighted with their very professional and caring approach.
Appreciate notice of rota and punctuality of arrival, also cheerfulness and empathy with my recent loss of wife. None of the careers has given any grounds for complaint or dissatisfaction. Excellent.
Helping Hands Home Care proved a real find for us without them we would be floundering, we can highly recommend them. All the ladies that come to look after my mother-in-law are trained to a high standard and the care they provide is of uniformly impressive quality. They are matched to her personality as far as possible - Helping Hands are ready to listen if ever that proves not to be the case and act to better her care experience. In addition, they are flexible to our changing and sometimes short notice needs as well as supporting my wife and I when things are difficult for us.
My dad has been looked after by Helping Hands Newport Pagnell branch for over a year now and as a family we couldn’t be more confident that he is in safe "hands". The carers are kind, thoughtful and patient with dad and have always helped out when he needs taking to and from appointments. Couldn’t do without them. I would highly recommend Helping Hands.
My father has been receiving daily care visits from Helping Hands for the last few years. The carers are absolutely lovely and so kind and helpful, as are the staff at the office. Having the same carers visit my dad for the last few years has been amazing as they have got to know the family and ensured a continuous routine. Whenever we need to change a visit or book additional help the staff at the office are incredibly efficient and responsive, and having their support means my dad is able to live a full and independent life.
My doctor referred me to Helping Hands when we needed a bit of support for my brother. To begin with this was just to provide a bit of respite, Helping Hands even offered to feed our cats! We felt very liberated with our newfound freedom but it has now also allowed my brother to live on his own. My brother requires three visits a day as he has restricted mobility but with their support he is able to live independently. I have recommended Helping Hands to friends because they have been very reliable and trustworthy, something you cannot put a price on.
