View Full Details of Home Instead (North Devon & Exmoor)Home Instead was the only care company that would come to us and show any willingness to help. Nothing has been a problem for them and they have fitted in with our changing needs at every turn. All the office staff are pleasant and patient. The carers themselves are extremely caring, kind and professional. They treat my Mum as an individual and with dignity and look out for me too as I try and cope with the rapid decline of my lovely parents. I am and always will be thankful.
The carer is always on time. The care will do anything the client asks which is on their care plan. The carer is helpful, and friendly and takes an interest in what the client is doing. The care is always ready to talk about anything the client is interested in eg current news, weather, and traffic on the roads.
With one exception, the service has been excellent and the backup in one instance of a fall has been exemplary. Apart from the cost the support has been very good.
The team at Home Instead have been great - easy to deal with and very good communication. The care team members who have visited Mum have provided great companionship and reassurance. All in all very professional but much more importantly very human and caring. Thank you.
We have been receiving home care for cleaning and shopping for the last year. The positives are that the carers are kind and friendly and reliable. However, the negatives are that some carers seem to spend more time chatting than cleaning which we do not pay for. The standard of cleaning varies between cleaners. Some are poor and you wouldn’t know it has been done, another carer is thorough and conscientious. One major area that has not been cleaned thoroughly is the fridge and old food has been left in the fridge, not discarded. The bins are regularly not emptied. Regarding shopping, it has been difficult due to the carer not looking in the fridge and seeing what we need each week and therefore buying too much of one item or not enough of another. We don’t think it’s value for money. However, we are working with the agency to try and improve the standard of care.
The team of Care Pros that visit Mum are reliable and are always willing to do any job to help Mum each morning. They are kind and considerate and keep the house clean and tidy for her. If a Care Pro cannot attend for whatever reason, Home Instead always inform us of who will be covering their absence and never leave Mum without cover.
Our care providers are excellent and provide just the right level of care for both my parents who live with me, they also help me out and go the extra mile with the little things that make all the difference in supporting us with the various needs both medically and human.
Very friendly carer who provides a service to my mother. General home help service was provided as a first step for my mum who was naturally nervous about “having someone in”. Our carer and the team have made the journey so much easier for Mum and the carers have been very good.
Efficient and caring service provider. Work hard to satisfy our requirements.
As caregivers have got to know our relative, and they have accepted them, the service has levelled out and now fulfills our needs for our relative, whilst still encouraging personal independence and self-determination. There have been one or two hiccups but we are very happy with the caregivers' and agency's flexibility and accommodation of our relative and our needs.
Home Instead carers have been visiting my 90-year-old father (who lives independently in his home) twice a week for nearly 2 years. The communications from the central team are always really clear and we know who is supporting Dad each week. There has been more turnover in caregivers than promised in initial meetings and some are less able to cook (a key part of the service) than others - but they are all unfailingly kind and we cannot fault the overall level of service. It has made a huge difference to all of us.
The girls are good on the whole, obviously some are better than others i.e. quicker.
We have found the care team reliable, friendly, and on time. We appreciate that the longer we are together the more relaxed and informal the morning meetings become and their duties are all completed within the hour.
Our care provider is an excellent worker doing her best to provide excellent companionship and any help she can. She is always caring and also good fun providing a happy hour to her client.
Home Instead (North Devon Exmoor) came highly recommended to me by an old friend. Since September 2023, my 91-year-old mother, who lives independently, has had weekly visits from a Home Help from Home Instead. My mother commented recently that the visit was one of the highlights of her week. She says she looks forward to seeing her Home Help, who is always cheerful and friendly, and she is very happy with the support she receives from Home Instead. My mother seems to value her home help highly already, which is fantastic. As a family, we are very satisfied thus far with the overall quality of service from Home Instead, both in terms of the standard of care provided by the Home Help and the responsiveness of staff to email or telephone queries. For those of us living away, accessing the online portal to read through write-ups of their weekly visits to our mother is another excellent way to monitor progress with the Home Help arrangement.
I’m on the whole very pleased with the service provided. Occasionally the office do not inform me of who is coming to provide the care until the last moment and I would really like to know at the beginning of the week. I don’t get a rota.
Both my husband's regular carers are excellent and we are very happy with them in every respect. However, we are not happy with the recent payments taken for "travel" which suddenly appeared on the monthly invoices and which were not notified to us by post, as stated by staff when I phoned to complain and I felt she was quick to dismiss my query as to how this surcharge could apply to us when we live so near to all of you and our carers often walk to us. Time permitting, and I assume this extra payment is not forwarded to them?
I am happy with the girls that come to visit me. Most are very attentive to my needs. However, the timings of the visits are not always convenient and I would prefer a later time as promised in the beginning.
My Dad has been looked after by Home Instead for eighteen months now and is still as happy with the care as he was at the start. Following a fall last year, his visits needed to be significantly increased over the week, with his personal care having to be added to what began as a company, a walk and a chat. I would urge anyone who thinks their loved one may need care in the future to begin before there is a crisis as I don't know how I would have coped if I didn't already have some provision in place. All the staff are punctual, friendly, and quickly got used to Dad's needs and his quirks. They spend time getting to know him so that they can have a meaningful conversation. There are times when they have to work alongside his cleaner, and this works out very well too. There have been times when I have needed to email staff with a query or information and find them quick to respond. We are both very pleased with the service.
We've used Home Instead to provide care visitors for my Mum for the last four to five months and so far we're very happy with the service provided. The carers seem to do a good job of looking after Mum and giving her the reassurance she needs. The back office and management seem to work pretty well and they have responded positively to feedback and requests. They have an online logging system so we can see (remotely) how each visit has gone and any notes that the carers have made, which is very useful. They can be relied upon to provide the service required, with good back-up for sickness etc, plus they're very good at flagging up any potential issues in good time.
