View Full Details of MyLife EdinburghFound My Life purely by searching online. My mother was being discharged from hospital and I needed reliable support for her. The business manager was very helpful and saw her in hospital. All the staff have been great really can't fault them. I'd recommend them 100%.
Excellent communication from management meet and greet. Carer perfect, lovely lady, very caring, knows the needs of the client. Has common sense. Regular communication by letter from providers. Easy to deal with.
MyLife supply carers at 7:30 am and 5 pm. The carers in the morning help me with a hand wash. They also make porridge for breakfast and a cup of coffee. They also fill a thermos with boiling water so that I can make a hot drink. At 5 pm the carers make a sandwich which is kept in the refrigerator for the next day's lunch. They also prepare a vegetable stew for my evening meal. The carers help me get into my sleeping shirt. They fill the thermos again so I can make hot drinks in the evening.
Good value.
Generally very good.
The girls who come are all very pleasant and attentive.
Arrangements are very good overall. Staff on the whole very pleasant. Some care staff are more competent than others. Punctuality of visits sometimes not as wished (but I understand reasons for delays).
I was very impressed with the patience and perseverance shown by the care staff who tried repeatedly to gain the trust of my aunt who has dementia. Despite her hostility the staff kept trying to provide support. Excellent support was also provided by management.
I now only have one of your staff who has been with me for 20 years. Lately, relief staff has not been entirely satisfactory and that aspect is now undertaken by the Trust.
I am very pleased with the service MyLife provides. The staff, including the office staff, are very friendly and cheerful.
I've been using MyLife Edinburgh for many years, The carers have always been absolutely brilliant but the office staff need to be better. They fail to pass messages on and often are quite evasive when responding to questions over visit times.
Very good twice-daily package, 7/7 a week certainly helping my 90-year-old Dad manage at home. Valuable service! Without the package, my dad may have to consider care home placement. Most weeks staff turn up, only occasional unplanned absences.
I have been using MyLife Edinburgh for about five months to help with care for my elderly parents, both with dementia and have always been impressed with the friendly care given by the lovely carers and also all the staff in the office who have answered my queries promptly and efficiently. My mother, in particular, can be difficult with her dementia, and the carers proved to be so patient and caring with her. I would recommend MyLife to anyone seeking help with any loved one.
We needed a care package quickly and were impressed at the speed at which the details were arranged. The carers were punctual, polite and patient. They assisted my husband to recover his confidence and independence. We required the care for a short time only and were more than satisfied with the provider.
Added stress due to admin problems. Delays for restart after I accepted and offered to halve my visits while you were short-staffed (and covid) bad admin. I felt that no new staff had any prior knowledge of me ie did not read my file. As a result, I have been upset during phone calls. I don't get the rota before visits very often, rota changes are upsetting, not good.
Punctuality is not always good. Clarity of speech from carers (some less clear than others). Overall experience is satisfactory with some variability in quality of care.
My experience of employing a carer from an independent agency has been enjoyable as well as very helpful. It has enabled me to continue living alone in my own house.
We have been grateful for this agency finding extra shifts when asked. Generally reliable, turning up for shifts. Could change beds and clothing more often. Would be nice if the staff were trained nurses. Management do regular reviews.
The carers are mostly friendly, efficient, and supportive but the management/administration is difficult. Yesterday, my carer didn't arrive at the usual time of 12/12.30pm for a 2-hour shift. I hadn't received a new rota by post. I rang the agency at 1.15pm, who didn't know where the carer was, but told me to expect a carer at 2pm. I explained I had to leave at 2.30pm for a medical appointment so was told I'd get a call back with an alternative time. At 5.10pm, still no call. I phoned again. I was told a carer had been at 3pm and I wasn't there. I stated the obvious (I told you I was out) and was told I'd be called back. No calls until I rang today and asked when the carer would come to make up for yesterday and was promised a callback. A different person phoned back saying that as I hadn't been in yesterday, had cancelled the shift, refused a visit today and not been at home when the carer came, I would be charged for the shift. I challenged this and asked to leave immediately.
My experience with MyLife has been very poor. Disappointing with many occasions of serious neglect and no continuity of carers. Management and head office are extremely poor. Difficulty in understanding of non-English speaking carers.
