View Full Details of Helping Hands Home Care (Peterborough)All the live-in carers for my mother and father have been excellent. Helping Hands managed to match the carers not only to my parent's needs, but also to their characters which is equally important because obviously they have to get along with each other day in, day out. All carers have been trustworthy, reliable, well qualified and experienced. Also worldly-wise and bright. They have become part of the family, and are not "just carers" but friends too. They have all actively dealt with any issues that arise and come up with answers to solve them. I'd recommend Helping Hands to anybody.
The carer provided a really excellent standard of care for during our three weeks' break from looking after my wife's parents, (both in their mid-80s). Which meant that we were able to properly relax and enjoy our holiday. What was evident from the very beginning was how brilliant the carer was at caring both for Mother, who is bed-bound with latter-stage Alzheimer's, and Father, who is completely blind but entirely compos mentis with very different needs. We spoke to Father every day on the phone and it was clear that he was enjoying our break almost as much as we were, not least because he felt that the carer was providing a first-class level of care for his wife, who is totally reliant on others for every aspect of her quality of life. What came across very strongly in those conversations was how hard-working the carer was and how she used her initiative to ensure that everything went as smoothly as possible. We couldn't have asked for more.
When my mother-in-law needed live-in care following her discharge from the hospital, I contacted a number of local care agencies to decide who we would use. From the very first contact, I was confident that Helping Hands was the right agency to support us. They were professional, kind, responsive and clearly experts in the field. I knew I could trust them to support my mother-in-law well, and this was completely borne out by our experience. I was impressed with the thorough approach taken and with how quickly Helping Hands was able to provide a live-in carer, particularly at the moment when so many agencies struggle to find staff. My mother-in-law's carer was so lovely, helpful and pleasant to be around - vitally important when you are living in with someone who is fiercely independent. She really assisted my mother-in-law to recover and regain her fitness and strength and always treated her with dignity and kindness. I am glad to report she no longer needs a carer, but we will use Helping Hands if she does!
We needed to find help and support to provide our 92 year old mother with 24/7 care. She was determined to stay in her own home and we hd to find a way to help her achieve this goal. She is waiting for a hip replacement and has limited mobility. We turned to Helping Hands who were able to guide us through what was available and the costs involved. With much trepidation, our elderly mother welcomed her carer into her home. Mother had lived on her own for 12 years following the death of our Father and we were concerned about how she would cope with a complete stranger in her home. Our carer has been a treasure and a joy. She has taken away our stress and my mother sings her praises. Nothing has been too much trouble, our carer has become an extension of our own family. Her kind, caring and professional approach has been wonderful. Helping Hands keep in regular touch with her to ensure that everything runs smoothly and correctly.
Helping Hands have provided our elderly parents with live-in and daily relief carers for over 2 years. The live-in carers in particular have been excellent, and communication with the offices is generally satisfactory.
The support my mother has received from live-in carers over the last three years has been truly exceptional. They have always gone the extra mile to ensure she maintains her dignity and enjoys life as much as possible given her severe dementia. They have endless patience and reassure her when her condition causes anxiety and distress. Since she became immobile they have been meticulous in ensuring she has the very best hygiene and nutrition. It is evident that my mother has forged wonderful bonds with them and only today one took her by wheelchair to the coffee morning at our local church and she had the most wonderful time. It is such an advantage that they have the time to care for her every need in her home which she still remembers, and where she can enjoy the company of her faithful dog. The contribution of the care managers has been remarkable too. I wish to conclude by offering my sincere thanks to all the staff who have helped my mother through this wicked illness.
An efficient well-run service. We needed help urgently and the live in care team acted very swiftly providing excellent carers at short notice. When my Mother was well enough to be on her own the liaison between teams went smoothly and hourly care was found at the busiest time of day. We were delighted with the service and highly recommend Helping Hands.
My son's life has changed for the better since he started receiving care at home during the daytime. He is so excited every day waiting for his carer to come. It is now part of his life. My son loves the care at home in a one to one setting. He has one main carer and two carers who come once every two weeks or so. He loves looking at the rota every week to see who is coming. They all relate to my son very well and he feels confident with them as he has known them for some time. His carers have enriched his life as they all have different personalities and my son can spend time with them doing different things. They take him out for walks, play games with him, read books or football magazines and help him with his studying. They also send messages for him on his phone so he communicates every day with his cousins and friends which is very important to him. He is very very happy with the service he receives. Thank you for the joy you bring to my son's life.
