View Full Details of Unicorn1care LtdOffice staff been recorded planning on trying to destroy my relationship when I was fighting cancer myself. On paper we were paying 2 hours 30mins a day, but in person only getting less than an hour. Two of the young girls were amazing with him but the rest were different faces. We were burnt out with the cleaning afterwards, we’d get sitting for chemo day and one carer didn’t even speak to my father in law, didn’t even give him a drink but she did think it was ok to take £70 from his table. We even paid for the office staff to sit in a beautiful home all day watching my him and all she did was sit at side of him put tv on for 5 hours and did her work on laptop. That’s not the best one, on chemo day when the office staff were watching him, didn’t have the decency to say that was our last sit. Wow my father in law has dementia, Parkinson’s and bedbound. We waited and rang office up and nobody answered or came to change my father in law for bed, so one hour after chemo we had to do it ourselves.
My parents had 4 daily visits for over 6 months. My father has dementia; the company today denied this. Unicorn claim to give dementia care, but several carers have not dealt well with a confused and agitated client and this has upset my mother multiple times. He was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia; the consultant believed this was probably due to thickeners not being consistently mixed properly in his drinks. After a hospital stay, he went home with a catheter. Unicorn claims carers are trained in changing catheters but he has been in pain and bags have backed up because of incorrect fitting. The contract included household cleaning. The shower seat and toilet have frequently been left soiled. My mother should have been helped to shower 3 times per week, this has often been omitted. We have been promised improved service, none of which has come to fruition. We were given a week's notice via a phone message, followed the next day by a refusal to attend further, again upsetting my mother.
Avoid. We've raised a few issues with Unicorn recently (valid issues regarding safeguarding & general health) and their response was to terminate my Grandparent's contract within 7 days, leaving us in a very difficult position. After reading, this is not the first time this has been done.
Unicorn Care, Oldham staff are amazing. A breath of fresh air. The manager is exceptional. I felt safe that my mum was being well looked after. Highly recommend Unicorn Care, Oldham. Trustworthy and very efficient.
