View Full Details of Laurel Homecare LtdLaurel Homecare provided care for my father after his diagnosis of Alzheimer's and care for my mother who has MS and metal health problems. They were nothing but fantastic in looking after my mother in particular who struggled to deal with my father's illness and later on, death. They were comforting and supportive; giving her someone to talk to each day. They helped her with housework too. They have an app they use to record their visits and I found that extremely useful as I could check on how my parents were doing on a daily basis. They would also contact me with any concerns about their health or wellbeing via email or a phone call. It was straightforward to increase or decrease the sessions and I had a meeting with the manager/owner about my parent's needs so it was clear to the carers about what they need to do when they were with them. Communication to the office was excellent.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Laurels Home Care. They have been so good. Really kind, approachable, friendly staff, always ready to provide excellent help and care. Both my husband and myself have felt very confident in them coming into our home.
I have nothing but praise for all of the carers, if it was not for them I would more or less be in a home or gone.
Laurel Homecare provided care at home for my father from April 2020 until August 2023 by which time residential care had become necessary. The care staff are excellent overall and some are outstanding, especially the carer who provided live-in care for a few weeks at the end of the period. All of them showed genuine care for the resident and coped admirably with the occasional crises of illness, accidents, etc that are familiar to anyone caring for a very elderly person with assorted health issues. The company is very reliable indeed and in the event of staffing problems the senior management roll up their sleeves and provide essential cover. Laurel is a small enough organisation to be accessible, so relatives managing care on behalf of elderly clients can contact the directors if necessary, yet large enough to have sufficient resources. On occasions they have gone well beyond expectations and helped with things that would not normally be within their remit. Highly reccommended.
Laurel Homecare has been providing daily care for my mum for nearly two years, checking daily on her safety and well-being. Mum is now moving into a residential care home, and the family would like to take this opportunity to thank all at Laurel for their care and kindness during this period. She enjoyed her daily visits from all of the carers and very much appreciated their support.
I needed help at short notice following an unexpected admission to the hospital. Laurel Homecare could not have been more empathetic and helpful. I got the support I needed when I came home, plus the reassurance that the help would be there.
I feel management is weak and it would be helpful to receive an email about who is due to see us and when, especially when a charge is required as we have several times been "caught" eating a meal. As far as the "coal face" staff they are friendly and cheerful and there is a considerable chit-chat with my wife which sounds very happy through the wall and in her room.
Very happy with the care you are providing for me. Thank you all very much.
Thank you for all the care and attention you give and for being so kind.
Brilliant
All very good.
Everyone is absolutely excellent. I love it. I wouldn't change them for the world.
I can personally recommend Laurel Homecare for their friendly and considerate care tailored to your needs. They helped me look after my wife during a very difficult year. I now live on my own but still, continue to have some limited assistance although I am in good health for my age.
I can't praise them enough for all the help. Brilliant!
My carers are always smiling and cheerful when they arrive which is important when you live on your own, as they are often the only people I see that day. I always feel safe while being cared for, and despite being very ashamed and embarrassed by my situation I am always treated with dignity and professionalism. I trust my cares and feel that they always have my best interest at heart and would ensure that I was safe and settled before leaving me. I am treated with compassion and look forward to them coming. I am grateful and very happy with the care I'm provided with. Thank you very much to everyone involved.
The client has been using the Day Centre service for a month, going twice a week. She is treated very well, made to feel welcome and enjoys her visits. The food provided is good and there are different activities each day which are supported by staff, these include music, drawing and painting, pamper sessions and more.
I was heavily encouraged to write a review in March because management knew it would be glowing. How quickly things changed. It started with the odd care call being left uncovered. This quickly escalated to care visits being cancelled with 2 hours notice and sitting services not being covered at all, which meant having to cancel pre-booked appointments last-minute. At the day centre, my husband was fed a previously well-documented allergen, which needed hospital treatment. 14 days later the same member of staff wrote a dangerously written care plan that had to be taken down again within 24 hours of release. It was only seen because I reported the document. This has ended with lies being told and my name being muddied, leading to the company handing back the package of care. There was no attempt on their part to find out the full story about very poor attitudes coming from a manager. They even harassed my husband to lie about his feelings regarding another review.
My husband is always happy although tired when I collect him. He is stimulated by the other clients and activities that he chooses to participate in and relates very well to his carer who as an ex nurse, I cannot fault.
It is heart-warming to read the positive reviews of Laurel Homecare but sadly my friend's experience at the present time is the polar opposite. When Laurel Homecare first started providing services to my friends, the service was as many seem to attest very good, a welcome change to the poor service offered by previous care providers. Unfortunately, the honeymoon period is over, and the service is failing to deliver the outcomes required. The regularity of last minute let downs, where they cannot deliver the services agreed, has increased, causing anxiety and stress to all involved, and to top it all, when they do turn up, one of their managers believes undertaking domestic chores to support my friends is beneath them, and flatly refuses to complete the tasks asked of them, instead preferring to sit playing on their mobile phone.
Could not have asked for better care staff who were there from the good days right up to the day my dad passed, staff were easy to talk to about things that I couldn’t get my head around and went above and beyond my expectations.
