View Full Details of Direct Care ServiceStaff have no real understanding of how to care for elderly. There seems to be no empathy or real interest in building any relationship with the person, they do the bare minimum usually only staying for 15 or 20 minutes of a 30 minute visit. They are never on the times we agreed. I would not recommend.
Utter useless, service (laughable) less and less, do not understand the bare basics of caring for people, staff from abroad so clueless, they just do not want to work, try to understand or even have a rapport with elderly clients. On the phone at 7am as if I'm going to just run and do their job, don't even think they have basic qualifications. I have been asking the council for weeks to remove this lot, the language barrier and the fact most have never seen outside a small village speaks volumes, do not recommend at all.
The carers that look after my mum so far have been good, very pleasant and helpful. The only feedback I would give would be on occasions the carers turn up early for the slot and do not always stay for the agreed time my mum has been allocated. This makes my mum feel anxious as she feels she needs to be prepared and ready so far in advance of the carers coming. She doesn't relax as she should in-between visits in case they are early.
My family and I have been very pleased with all the carers we have had. One of our carers is the only man my husband likes, he is teaching him Scottish words!
The care that I have received in the last 6-months has been excellent. I would recommend this care company to somebody that has have a medical condition who needs support a couple of days a week or every day, and for me is domestic and personal care. I would recommend them to anybody who fits the criteria for the service, for the points that I have outlined above.
If anyone is concerned about covid and will not have carers in, I would say the staff takes every precaution by wearing masks, aprons etc. I never have any concerns about different ones coming in and out.
The care provided by Direct Care Service for my mother has been very good. Mum needing care at the onset of covid 19 could have been very difficult for her and us as a family to cope with. The manager has been very good at ensuring consistent staff and care for mum, which as a family we have really appreciated. The company are very flexible with regards to timings etc.
Direct Care has given my stepdad all the care and understanding, helped him more than words can say, with all the covid just how things are. We as a family can only commend the staff also their patience as my dad has Alzheimer's and is changing daily now, and through all this, they have been understanding and supportive.
This is the first time that my Mum has needed professional care, following a stroke in March 2020 which has damaged a part of her brain. As I was left to care for her myself for ten weeks and work from home, because of Covid-19, I have also suffered; stress and exhaustion. The difference our carer has made to our lives is phenomenal and the personal care and flexibility of the Manager and her staff have been a wonderful blessing. I am very happy with this service and Mum looks forward to her carer coming along every day.
