Due to a bad reaction to codeine, I was feeling very unwell and disorientated and pressed my button for help. Despite the date being 24/12 Helping Hands when advised found someone to call to help me spending quite a time feeding me and settling me down. The next day was Christmas Day but they rang me to check on my state and decided I needed some help and again found a carer for me. She gave me some medical advice not to take the strong doses of codeine which I had been prescribed. She was right and the symptoms gradually improved over the next few days. However Helping Hands also rang me the next day to check on my position. I consider this to have been a wonderful example of their caring for their clients when the client was in trouble. It gave me a great deal of confidence in the company, that they would look after me in problem times.
Helping Hands Home Care took care of Mum from April 2022 to November 2024 until she passed away at home. I really don't have words for the amazing way that all staff helped Mum through such a difficult time of her life. They were the only company at the time who could help us to keep Mum at home where she desperately wanted to stay, as hospital terrified her. All staff treated Mum with dignity and respect. They ensured that she felt comfortable and supported at all times. Helping Hands were a life line not only to Mum but also Dad as the primary carer. The daily visits gave Dad another focus during the day and much needed company. The staff became part of the family. The way in which they supported the family during Mum's last week was just incredible. They were able to provide cover all day so that Dad and I could have a rest and Mum had someone with her at all times. They sat with Mum, talked and read to her. I cannot thank Helping Hands enough and will be eternally grateful to them all.
I have been using Helping Hands Home Care (Chippenham) for almost a year for my elderly aunt and have been very impressed with what they do. My aunt was initially resistant to taking in help, despite needing to, however they made her feel very comfortable and feel able to retain a sense of independence. Fantastic communication between the managers and myself, allowing me to easily work with them in resolving trickier issues, giving me peace of mind. They go above and beyond in what they do, treating my aunt as though she was a member of their own family.
Mym has been supported by Helping Hands Home Care for 18 months. Her mobility, dementia and general health deteriorated significantly over the last 6 months. Her carers have shown patience, empathy and kindness throughout. This was particularly shown up to her hospitalisation and passing in June. They were so caring and went the extra mile in their support. I cannot praise them enough.
Helping Hands have been superb as our mother has travelled that painful journey from being fully independent to needing more and more care. The whole team has been amazing from the first meeting with the manager - that was very reassuring and immediately put Mum at ease that this was a caring, well trained and professional care provider, to her regular carer who just clicked with Mum, was very competent, compassionate and most importantly cared.
Without Helping Hands Home Care my father would be in a home. They are the only company who accepts rural visits. The staff are bright, friendly, professional and deal with father, who is often challenging in behaviour, in an excellent manner. The management is flexible to changing needs, increasing visits or postponing times. I have nothing but admiration for them.
I don't normally complete this kind of review but I am doing this because I consider the service of Helping Hands to be very good in every respect. My only criticism is the cost which will undoubtedly deter many people from getting the help they need and lead to more clients entering residential care or hospital, thus bed blocking.
Pleased with the overall service, however, would prefer to have a few regular people and not different people each week.
I am the client receiving care from Helping Hands Home Care Calne branch. I find that without exception I am cared for as I would like by all the carers who come to me at my home three times a day, seven days a week.
The management and staff are very professional and caring. Willing to help out at short notice.
The visit by Helping Hands Home Care (Calne) was much appreciated. Our helper arrived on time correctly dressed, very pleasant and willing. We are delighted.
My husband has Alzheimer's and will not get into the bath for me. The ladies from Helping Hands Home Care arrive, very cheerful, and he goes up to the bathroom quite happily. It is a great help to me, to know he is clean with fresh clothes on. All the ladies are lovely and very good with him.
Helping Hands came to our rescue with help for my Mum at very short notice. Her home had been flooded due to a burst pipe and she was moving to temporary accommodation. I phone CK2Care and they responded so efficiently. Two staff members came out and met my mum, including her in the discussion of her needs. Hey presto! A rota was drawn up and care started almost straight away. The carers were all amazing, arriving on time, always cheerful and were a huge help. One carer even brought along her guitar and sang to my Mum which she loved! How lovely was that? Any problems and I received a phone call to action how to deal with it. I would highly recommend this care company to anybody. Well organised! Reliable! Friendly! Professional! Thank you to everybody for all your hard work over the past few weeks. Mum is going for Respite Care to give my Dad a break. If she comes home I will be picking up the phone straight away with no hesitation to book you back in.
Fantastic service from the Helping Hands team. They have been so supportive while my mother adapts to life without Dad and struggles with hip issues and mobility. A shout out to the manager and her team for being so supportive and flexible from trips to the dentist and even hospitals. Outstanding service and so reassuring that our mum is in safe, professional and caring hands.
We have used the services of Helping Hands for approximately 9 months. We had an hours care per day at lunchtime to assist my elderly in-laws with medication, housework and a lunchtime meal. They also provided a sitting service with mother-in-law if father-in-law had a hospital visit. When father-in-law had a weeks stay in hospital Helping Hands went above and beyond to help with the care of mother-in-law at short notice. We found them extremely professional, helpful, courteous and cheerful, nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately, both in-laws are now in a care home so we no longer require their services but I would highly recommend them to anyone.
My mother has had Helping Hands (Calne and Chippenham) for 4 weeks now. The response from my initial care enquiry to bringing my mother home was handled exceptionally well, nothing was too much trouble. The care we have received has been fantastic, all the carers have gone above and beyond to make sure my mother is comfortable, I could not recommend this company enough.
For the last 3 days of my brother's life we had the good fortune to be sent this member of staff. She stepped in when we needed her most. Although she had only been appointed as a 12-hour sitter, she went above and beyond to provide support to my brother and the immediate family. Instead of having a carer, it was like having an extra member of the family to support all of us. It was obvious, she was a genuinely caring person and totally committed to providing the best support she could. If she is a typical example of the staff employed by Helping Hands then the company must be an exemplar for the caring profession. Should I ever be in the position of needing support like my brother did, I would want someone exactly like her to be my carer. She made my brother's last hours easier and more comfortable for him and the family. Thank you.
