I am absolutely delighted with the service I receive from Helping Hands. I have had to increase the support I require from 1 x 2 hours visits per week to 5 x 2 hours per week. I now need personal care as well as household tasks. Because of Helping Hands I am able to maintain my independence and my dignity which to me is priceless. Nothing is too much trouble for anyone from the management team to the carers. They try hard to ensure I have the same carer where ever possible and that continuity is import to me.
The carers have all been really nice and friendly. The care they give to my husband meets his needs in a professional but also kind way. The carers are well monitored by Helping Hands so are with you for all the time you are paying them for. They also report electronically what they have done on their call which is available for you to see. Overall happy with the home care given by helping hands.
The carers have been consistently experienced, efficient, considerate, timely and effective.
My father is 97 years old and needs assistance with washing and dressing etc. We had difficulty providing for Dad's needs so I used the internet and then contacted Helping Hands. We initially utilised this service for 1 day per week, but this has now risen to 4 days this is because of the care and compassion shown by carers, really has a positive reaction with Dad and he looks forward to them coming around. On a personal note, it is without a doubt that Helping Hands staff from Stalybridge have improved Dad's well-being and long may it continue.
My 91 year old mom has enjoyed the support of her two carers each day; they are friendly and make regular contact with me to ensure mom's needs are being met well. She has her meals and meds organised by the carers in the morning and at teatime.
Generally okay, but not as good as it has been. Quite a few calls have been late, and some early, both of which, are unhelpful as I have to tube feed my severely disabled daughter with seven lots of medicine prior to a morning call. Also, some carers have called who haven't used the equipment we have, hoists, shower cradle etc. Also when two carers call the talk to each other and not my daughter, for one of the most expensive care agencies in our area I expect a bit better.
The ladies calling on us were pleasant mannerly and came and left on time. I was pleased with their attitude towards my husband and he enjoyed their company. Despite my husband having some reservations, I hope to continue with the visiting service during the coming weeks ahead.
Recently my husband, who has dementia, has begun to have home care from Helping Hands Stalybridge. The arrangements were carefully set up by the manager and her assistant and the two carers appointed to us have made an excellent start. This is largely due to being accompanied by the assistant on their first visit. They have both been patient and caring with my husband and established good communication with him despite his condition and his deafness. His face lights up when he sees them. They are smartly and appropriately dressed in their uniforms and have always worn appropriate PPE every day.
